Gone are the days when you can only be called an artist when
you have a painting and you can draw. These days, I discovered that we are slowly
breaking that misconception and starting to see the world in full colors. I’m
delighted to see people who are really hooked into adult coloring books, bead
works and stuff but what really caught my attention is this paperclay art. I’m
sure a lot of you guys are familiar with these since they have a lot of
branches inside SM Malls.
I’m a multi-tasker doing a lot of things all the time. It can be draining sometimes since juggling
from different events is my routine. Hence, I need something where I can
release my stress and enhance my creativity at the same time.
I felt like I had this amazing opportunity to promote this
kind of art when I received an invite from JNBM Paperclay for their Art
Competition Blogger’s Night.
The event was held at Manila Yacht Club, one of Asia’s
oldest and most prestigious yacht clubs in partnership with Kalahi – Paper Clay
Art Competition.
I don’t have much OOTD photos that day since I’m a lil bit
shy to ask someone to take several frames for me. They’re also busy strutting
poses but luckily, I found blogger friends that are friendly enough to take
photos of me! Yay!
For the event, I wore a blue tube dress from Zara and a
denim trench coat from SM Dept store that was both comfortable and stylish. I
went straight there after my shoot and guess what? I’m 1 hour early!
I didn’t waste time and tried out how to do the paperclay art.
Shout out to all the awesome crew for being so friendly and accommodating to me. I enjoyed doing the craft that I totally didn’t mind arriving early!
They gave me a bag with paperclay kits and other artsy stuff inside.
It's very simple and so easy to do. There's a thick guide board and different colors of moist, soft and colored paper inside the kit. You just have to pick the color you want, get a small portion by using the 2 sticks inside the kit and place it on the board. You don't need to use any adhesive material - it just sticks easily. (woah! ) Wait until it dries up and tadah! You finally have a masterpiece which you can display at home.
Here are some of the sample artworks displayed made from paperclay:
Fast facts: Mrs. Sue Morales, the founder of JNBM Paper Clay started the idea 11 years ago, when she thought of a mother and daughter activity for her daughter Anjela (9 years old that time). The rest is history.
